United States - Subintern On Johns Hopkins Hospitalist Unit

Washington DC --- the Capitol monument...the kinda thing you just take a snapshot for the sake of doing it.

Playing Indian games with the gigantic pillars of this Supreme Court.

Chinatown, D.C. .. I was actually feeling very sick here, shivering cold with chills although the temperature was actually quite fine.

A very kind American helped us take a pic of me and Clin' at the Thomas Jefferson memorial..

Washington Monument at night ... we took a few hours to get this picture right, and it still doesn't look right with my eyes closed! Damn!

Delicious yummy crablegs on buffet at Baltimore Inner Harbour. Yummy yummy spread of seafood for just 25 USD... but the crablegs were so salty that you could become bloated up like those inflatable sex dolls, while Clinton vomited ( read: binge-purge behaviour of bulimia nervosa )

Me and Megaloblastic Kim' at the Hospitalist Unit just when I was about to end my last day of duties...

(left)Danielle the patient assistant with bowel incontinence, still hanging around that bad company from Catering (sigh* when will that girl take my advice) , (middle) Nanyombi the kind RN who taught me how to turn off the "patient call" button since patients abuse it anyway .. (right) Caroline who worked with me on several tough patients and a poor girl with a bad case of nephrotic syndrome and pulmonary oedema.

Me and Julie Van Meyer , the whacky social worker who is always jealous that I charm the boots off patients more so than her... AKA Vancome Lady.

Kathryn up to her monkey antics as usual, as I am paging for assistance to the desk. That's Dr. Todd Lewis behind me with his Jim Carrey antics... really love that guy!! he's my favourite consultant on the floor..

The only picture I have in Philadelphia which is so boring is this of me and my Dutch friend, Ruben. He's such an earnest and simple guy who is travelling all by himself for 2 months in the States... Bad choice for choosing to fly Gay-LM instead of Singapore Airlines bro..

Quincy Market in Boston when it was still nice and sunny. This was the main spot where we had most of my meals, and it's so expensive still for market food! Really missed Baltimore and Philly at that point of time... miss the cherrystone clams..

Walking the Freedom trail in Boston, it was raining and I was freezing my balls off.

Ruben would have loved this place since he was a war-slut. This is the USS constitution, one of the major warships that engaged in fierce seabattles with the British naval fleet. The sky looks even gloomier than some of the O&G nurses in NUH.

Sunset at Empire State Building..

It's just gorgeous once night falls, but the wind is so strong and chilly  that you can't really stay long. The advertisement of the Singapore Airlines stewardess trotting around on the highest floor of the Empire State building is a myth! She probably couldn't last a second there without her sarong kebaya being blown off a la Marilyn Monroe.

A picture to remind you of Mavis Hee's "Tie Chuang".

Call me Lady Liberty!!

Manhattan Skyline with the Kallang River-lookalike waters ..

A picture of Central Park, which is of course well known to be the place where Kevin in Home Alone 2 had a showdown with the Wet Bandits.. Now it's a pleasant place to jog and walk, while some gay guys actually enjoy some hot friskin' action in the bushes.

Brooklyn Bridge, offering marvellous views of Manhattan and Brooklyn itself.

Being pushed over the ledge ...

Imitating the Singapore Airlines Fly the A345 to New York advertisement..

Flying home on SQ 25 from New York JFK via Frankfurt Airport where I got harrassed by some assistants decked up in FIFA World Cup jerseys. I bought some FIFA merchandise for Tianrong here, but that's about it.. saw a lot of Africans sleeping outside the Lufthansa boarding gates and I don't think they were here to support the bankrupt Togo team.

Sri Lankan Surprises -- Madman in Colombo

The lovely Emirates crew who took excellent care of me en route to Colombo

Galle Road .. the main artery road that stretches across Colombo.. extremely high security area.. obviously not for swimming unless you want to be <Swept Away> like Madonna.

My favourite seafood in Negombo , a beach resort slightly north of Colombo. It's this delicious crab meat thermidor with baked rice. It's at the Brown Beach Hotel and doesn't cost much more than a Yoshinoya meal. Beat that , plus the seaview...

The locals frolicking in the murky waters of Negombo resort.. the sea is really too rough for swimming..

Me looking tired out after a cycling trip in Negombo .. I am somewhere near the local Fish market... big stink!

The local ladies spreading the fish out for drying ... kiam he..

I ordered an extra main course.. the giant prawns were delicious.

Exit Negombo. This is the Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage, where I was tricked into taking a photo with this baby elephant for 5 USD. I refused to pay and that keeper in the photo sent a herd charging at me.

Elephants basking by the river ... I am hot and sweaty like those Penthouse models in Sports Illustrated, so I needed to chill' out with a bottle of Coke. Now Coke is a luxury here.

This is Moses, one of the staff at the splendid inn <Highest View> I stayed at Kandy. Spectacular views from the restaurant and rooms. Lovely weather as well.

I normally don't take pictures of sacred symbols, but this is a symbolic picture of the ancient Buddhist relics in Polonaruwa, one of the ancient towns in the north of Sri Lanka. There are like 1000 over Buddhist relics, some well-preserved , all over a sprawling ground, not unlike the Roman ruins you see. It was so hot that day I almost collapsed.

Another spectacular sight from the Lion's Rock in Sigiriya ..

It was damn frightening climbing up in that narrow spiralling staircase that hanged precipitously over the cliff.. Felt a bit vertiginous during the climb hahaz but i survived nevertheless=)

This is my driver cum good friend who took me around the sites .. it was hefty to get his services , but beggars can't be choosers during the Sinhalese New Year when everyone wants to be with their families rather than working.

Sadhana very graciously treated me to a fine Indian meal at her uncle's Indian restaurant. Very tasteful decor and authentic meals. Sad ordered too much though..

Here is me at the courtyard of Galle Face Hotel, the landmark of Colombo overlooking the open Indian Ocean. I wanted to swim at the swimming pool, but they were charging me 15 USD for a single swim!! I rather eat my panties.

I was sadistically hoping for it to collapse, but these guys were having so much fun stacking upon one another and collapsing into the sea anyway.

This nice little boy was one of the cheeky fellas I clerked in the Paediatric unit of the Cardiology hospital.

A last picture of me and the Cardiology hospital before I flew back home ... look at how much weight I lost !! Marie France will be so proud of me..
